Last week, we kicked off the MYMATCH Co-Creation Workshop Series with Workshop 1, bringing together researchers, farmers, industry leaders, regulators, and international organisations.
It aims to co-create actionable strategies for managing mycotoxin risks under climate change.

This first workshop focused on validating and discussing stakeholder perceptions about how climate change impacts mycotoxin risks along Europe’s food and feed chains. Key insights included:
– Growing climate-driven variability and spatial differences in mycotoxin risks
– Increased vulnerabilities for farmers due to weather instability, costs, and regulatory challenges
– Challenges in aligning testing methods, rapid diagnostics, and predictive models
– Persistent barriers to data sharing across sectors
The outcome was a validated perceptions’ framework combining multi-stakeholder views with scientific evidence, prioritising risks by urgency and impact. This framework sets the stage for Workshop 2, where we will co-design monitoring and prevention strategies and explore model-supported decision tools.
We were happy to have our sister project AMBROSIA Project participating in this workshop, joining forces for increased food safety in a changing climate. 🤝
Interested in joining this collaborative journey? Workshop 2 is planned for late September 2026. Stay tuned!
Funded by the Horizon Europe programme, MYMATCH unites 12 partners across 9 countries to tackle food safety risks linked to climate change, specifically focusing on mycotoxins produced by fungi like Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Alternaria. Our mission: predict, mitigate, and manage these risks to protect human and animal health through innovative science and AI-driven tools.
