MYMATCH and AMBROSIA Join Forces to Strengthen Europe’s Food Safety in a Changing Climate
Tilbake

As climate change reshapes agricultural landscapes across Europe, food safety challenges are evolving faster than ever. MYMATCH is happy to share its new collaboration with its sister project AMBROSIA, aimed at better understanding and anticipating these emerging risks. Our collaboration will strengthen scientific alignment, technical integration, and communication around climate-driven food safety threats.

A Shared Mission: Protecting Food Systems in a Changing Climate

Climate change is altering environmental conditions, influencing the behaviour of pathogens, toxins, and contaminants in our food systems. With rising temperatures and shifting humidity patterns, fungi and other hazards are becoming more prevalent, demanding new strategies for prediction and mitigation.

Both MYMATCH and AMBROSIA share the common objective to anticipate and mitigate climate-driven food safety risks.

About AMBROSIA: Understanding Climate‑Driven Contamination Dynamics

While MYMATCH focuses on predicting and mitigating the risks of mycotoxigenic fungi and mycotoxins in European food systems, AMBROSIA investigates how climate-driven stressors reshape biological and chemical hazards across the food chain.

🔍 More details about AMBROSIA:
AMBROSIA is a Horizon Europe project focused on strengthening food safety in the context of climate change. As environmental conditions evolve, contamination patterns and emerging risks are shifting across food systems. AMBROSIA investigates how climate-related stressors influence biological and chemical hazards, aiming to improve Europe’s preparedness and adaptive capacity.

The project brings together a multidisciplinary consortium to develop integrated approaches for risk assessment, monitoring, and mitigation. By combining scientific research with stakeholder engagement, AMBROSIA seeks to anticipate future food safety challenges rather than react to them.

Particular attention is given to climate-driven changes in contamination dynamics, including microbiological hazards and mycotoxins. Through evidence-based research and policy dialogue, AMBROSIA supports adaptive regulatory frameworks and practical solutions for producers, risk assessors, and policymakers.

By bridging climate science and food safety, AMBROSIA contributes to resilient food systems and enhanced public health protection across Europe.
